New world architecture direction

Report to the presentation

For the presentation, the first one is Greek Architecture by Group 1 and Group zai. Group 1 introduce the Greek architecture from the background of Greek such as the location, population,clothes and the living surrounding. Besides, they also introduce the ancient Greece government which is divide into city states and the rules of Greek include three society which are
prelegal, protolegal and legal society. They try to present overall around Greek. However, unfortunately, they didn't finish the presentation about the Greek architecture. For Group 2 as they use Malay to present, therefore I get the very limited information for it. I just know that they talked about the element of Greek architecture, and the signature building of Greek Parthenon which is the famous temple of Atnena and the propylaea.

The second is the Roman Architecture which is presented by Group 2 and Group 3. Group 2 begins with the colosseum and the aqueducts.Moreover, they mention about the most important Roman god Jupiter Mars and Venus and the greatest emperor Caesar. They expain the roman architecture through their daily life, religion, surronding area and so on. For Group 3 they facous on the elements and famous building to introduce the Roman architecture. They emphasis on the colosseum and aqueducts which is the most famous building for Roma. Moreover they also do some survey on Roman history.

The third one is the Byzantine Architecture. Group 4 introduce the historical background such as location and period firstly. Then they emphasis on the ideal church. They talk about the dome on pendentives and the different types of the church like the early prototypes. They also show the Byzantine architectural characteristic, elements, materials, construction and technology. Moreover, they mention about the principles of architectural organization which include in introduction religious, rituals and symbolis. However, they don't finish their presentation. Group 5 they compare the map of the Byzantine and Turkey. Then they talk the 3 timeline for Byzantine which are early, midtenth and 14th and early 15th. After that the art and design of Byzantine at different era and the function at past and on present had been talked. In the end they talking about the impact of Byzatine and the Russian architecture is similar to Byzantine.

The fourth is the renaissance architecture. Group 6 firstly talk about the background, 6 chronology and the characteristics which include plan, facade, collumns and pilasters, domes, celings and doors. Then they talk about the different era of the Italian Renaissance and the signature of different era like painting, artist, sculpture. They also mention about the architecture of renaissance and the famous architect at that time Fillippo Brunelleschi and Leon Battista Alberti. At last, however, they don't finish their presentation. Group 7 also talk the background of renaissance first. Then they emphasis on charcteristic about the plan, facade, collumns and pilasters, arches, vaults, domes, ceilings, doors, windows, wall and details.

The last type of architecture is the modern architecture. It is presented by group 8. After talking about the background, they show the famous architect such as Frank Lioyd Wrignt and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and the famous building which designed by them to explain the characteristic of modern architecture.

As conclusion, during the presentation, we know more about the architecture and history of different eras. It also may help us to use it in our own studio design work in future.

Architecture as a Function of the State

Generally,architecture plays an important role in the every state no matter in the ancient time or modern time.

As architecture as function of the state, therefore it controls by the power of the state.There are three component which are executive, legislative and judiciary in the state. Due to the
identity and the form of the city is controlled by the ruler, the architectural form is also designed to satisfy the ruler as the main purpose. Therefore. every powerful empire has their own architectural style to identify their own empire.

In summary, every great empire has the great influence in various areas. However they also take some elements from another empire to their own design.And the architecture is based on the empire and controlled by the ruler.
