"The production of 40 Geodesic Domes on the Dome Spine between HBP and The Valley of Dome, USM, Domesday, 10 September 2008."

The dome above is make from the Group 13.The group name is IVORY VICTORY. The members of this group are MOHAMAD RIDWAN BIN ZULKFLI (Interior Design), MOHAMAD FADHLULLAH BIN AHMAD (Interior Design), MUHAMAD FARIS BIN ZULKIFLI (Urban and Regional Planning), AYU FARHANA BINTI ARIFFIN (Urban and Regional Planning), NUR NAZIFAH BINTI MAT RIPIN (Urban and Regional Planning). This group use the newspaper as their material and use rubberized cloth to joints it toughly. Firstly, they make the newspaper become rod shape and straightly. After that they joint the bottom and the end of the rod to become triangle shape. Finally, the dome was successful .

The first dome of team ESPRIT DE CORPSE made of colorful PVC pipes and jointed with strong masking tape. Besides, the team covers the dome with cloth on top. With the motto -REMEMBER THE DOME REMEMBER 1B, the team consist of leader Alif Bin Abdul Fatah* and 4 members, Siti Syazwan Izzati Binti Ismail, Nurul Diana Binti Abu Bakar, Tengku Noraisyah Binti Tengku Zahari, , Irwin Jupelish. The mentioned dome expected to have life span for about 364 days, unfortunately, the dome break down after the heavy rain within 24 hours.

The second dome, done by team Q-BAH leaded by Hatim Saud, and its team members Ismawati Bt Ismail, Norsal Bt Mohd Essa, Nurul Hidayah Bt Abdullah*, Nur Diana Bt Salihi. The 2v structural dome was made from about 64 pieces white PVC pipe. And it was jointed with screw and strengthens by nylon rope and masking tape. The dome has great appearance and looked well, OLD YET EVER NEW, the team build the dome with all their spirit, however, the shape was distorted after 24 hours.

The ANCIENT BUILDERS: Chuah San Yu*(leader), Wang Zhong Hao, Loo Ruey Chih, , Chen Yi Qian, Frederick Tan Wooi Hean. With the copulate motto, LIGHT AND EASY, the dome was built with Kayu Mertam which collected from Chinese hearse and coffin shop, light and easy to be shaped into suitable size. It was bound with ropes which were collected at dock where fisherman used to tie boat knot. Coconut ropes were also was used. All materials are recyclable. Lastly, the dome was packaged. The team was good in collecting the free materials. Also, no steel material has been used, hence, no rusting condition will occur. The team had estimate the dome’s lifespan will be more than a year, and the dome was found still standing nicely after the heavy rain.

The fourth team, Easy 5, has a fantastic motto, Theater Of Your Mind. The fantastic dome was built by Teh Yee Hong*(leader), and 4 other amazing members, Cheng Bee Ting, Liu Ying Huan, Cheng Fang Chee, and Ng Kang Lin. The team had chosen the PVC pipe as their dome materials, hence they were easily can be found and carry able. The dome was bound with screw and cover with black rubbish bags. The 2v structural dome was able completed within 30 minutes as the dome was prefabricated.

D B FIVE, the fifth group, consist of Abdul Muksit Bin Muktal Halib (leader), Mohd Shamshul Hisham Bin Abd Razak, Nur Hazirah Binti Hamzah, Nurul Syuhada Binti Muhamad Saufi, Nur Liyana Binti Ab. Wahid. The big, beautiful 3V structural dome was made of bamboos that were cut into small pieces, and jointed with metal bracers. Although there was no cover and package for the dome, wrong building location, but there is a good intention in the team, DARE TO TRY. Perhaps this is what we need to learn during the building process.

The sixth team, 3+2 (team motto: TOGETHER WE BUILD.) the team consist of Ng Wen Yan* (leader), Jane Liu Chan Juan, Wong Si Jing, Wang Fei, Yao Bin. The team had completed a 3v structural dome with carton papers, staples and masking tape. Some black rubbish plastic was used as base. Amazing idea to build a dome with paper, as it is easily can be destroyed by rain water and wind. The team expected the dome to be withstood for at least 20 minutes to more than few months as long as there is no rain. However the heavy rain had ruin and destroyed the dome after 24 hours. As the conclusion, paper is not a good and suitable materials to build construction especially in outdoor

Team number seven, SILENT YOUTH (team motto: WORK TILL DIE): Muhamad Faiz B Wahid, Saiful Azizi B Muhamad Hasan, Zhafri Heikal Bin Abdul Manap, Nur Bahiyah Bt Mohd Shukuri, Nadzirah Bt Shahrin. The team had constructed a simple and small dome, (perhaps it is not call a dome?) by using bamboo pieces, bonded by nylon strings and covered by wasted thick advertising paper. No mentioned life span, however it was able to withstand the drencher after 24 hours. According to Mr. Wan Burhanuddin bin Wan Abidin's comment, it is not considered a dome and is too simple.

The above dome was constructed by the eighth team, HELL BOYS: leaded by Lee Yunn Sheng (leader), and 4 helpful members Ooi Say Jer, Lim Zi Jing, Siew Tuck Ming, Tan Yeong Keat. The boys’ 2v structural dome built with thin bamboo pieces, jointed by wire, strengthen with masking tape. It looked quite ordinary and plain, the bottom part of bamboo was covered with black plastic. The lifespan expected was about 2 days

The ninth team, ANGKATAN ANAK MALAYA: Mohamad Sufuan bin Mazlan (leader), Wan Muhammad 'Atiyya bin Wan Azman, Izyan bt Ahmad Mokhtar, Norfadhlina bt Saing, Siti Farsha Murni bt Izami. Materials such as bamboo pieces, nylon strings, hard advertising poster was used. The constructed dome is not considered as a proper dome, as it has no 1v or 2v structure. Same comment was given by lecturer as team Silent Youth, by the reason of similar appearance, design and construction. I wonder if it is able to fit in 5 people due to its small volume.

Team number ten, CURVE TEMPLE: Young Layching (leader), Ooi Wan Wen, Boo Bee Poo, Joyee Leong Mei Ling, Goh Chun Sing, stong, beautiful and colorful 2v structural dome, constructed with wood pieces which covered with color paper, and jointed the sticks by bolts and nails. The dome was covered with colorful transparent plastic paper on upper part, and so enhances its appearance and exterior. The lifespan expected was 7 days, and I do believe that it will stand more than that

DOME'S DAY

DOME'S DAY

RULES: At first, we know the rules about the rules of this assignment from the lecture.

ACT 1:

Then we cut down the bamboo and make it suitable for building the dome.

INTENTION:

After cutting some bamboo we use computer to find some information and share our intention to other people. then we discuss about what's the intention of our lecturer's and how we build our dome.

Finally we decide to build 1V dome according to the http://www.desertdomes.com/ . we think the more simple the better that's why we choose 1V to build.
ACT 2:

Everyone cut the bamboo and bind the bamboo together to make it more conveniently to move and ensure we can build it in 30 minutes.
PRODUCT 1
This is the basic structure of our dome. Also it is the first product of we build.
After that, we buy the ice-cream for everyone then we eat it and celebrate the first product of ours.

ACTOR:

Our leader put a nice pose in the middle of our first product and we take a picture for her(*^__^*)
Then it's the turn of the members to take the photo. o(∩_∩)o...

As all the night we try to build the basic structure and carry it into the campus, so each of us is very tired.

SITE:
At the dome's day, after briefing we know the exact site where should we build our dome.

Then we carry it to the site and accroding to the rule we carry it by three people.
PRODUCT 2:

This is the final product. even through it's not good ,we already try our best to do it.So we still fell happy and we are very enjoy to the process of building the dome. At last thanks lecturer CikWan gives this opportunity.^_^
